The Perfect Purse in Pink

The perfect purse … to match your shoes, of course! This is a wonderful beginner decorator project. The cake can also be personalized easily by varying the colors or piping techniques used!

Serves 12.

Step 1: Bake the Cake

Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe in Purse Pan. Cool completely. Cut cake board to fit cake; cover with Fanci-Foil. Arrange cooled cake on prepared board.

Step 2: Decorate Cake

Spatula ice background in white buttercream; spatula ice purse top and sides with thinned light violet icing. Outline purse details in light violet with tip 3. Add tip 2B light rose stripes (7 shown above); add tip 13 light rose stars to piped stripes. Pipe in tip 5 dot medallion/clasp; outline with tip 5 dark violet and add dark violet ball in center.

Add tip 5 light violet icing dots on purse flap. Outline handle with tip 3 dark violet. Pipe tip 3 dark violet zigzags between rose stripes. Complete this project with tip 21 light violet star bottom border.

Using an angled pointed spatula makes icing the white cake area by the purse handle easy!

To help space the rose icing lines more easily, first pipe lines of icing on the side edges, then add an icing line in the middle. Add additional lines, evenly spaced, between the middle and side lines.

Vary the look of this purse by changing colors. Or, add different icing design embellishments (i.e., add dots instead of stars, stars in place of the zigzag, etc.).
