Hearts and red roses are the quintessential symbol of romance. Here we've combined them on a single cake perfect for a shower, Valentine's Day celebration or a small wedding reception.
Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in 10 in. heart pan following recipe instructions. Cool in pan on cooling grid 15 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely. Cut cake board to shape of pan; cover with Fanci-Foil.
Level cake layers. Place first layer on prepared cake board. Tint buttercream icing rose. Outline cake layer with tip 12 rose icing, about 1/2 in. from outer edge of layer; fill in with additional buttercream. Top with sliced strawberries. Add top cake layer. Spatula ice cake using tip 789 with rose buttercream.
Cut 1-1/2 in. x length of Sugar Sheet strips with Slide-N-Cut Cutter. Punch scallops on one long side of strip; attach to bottom of cake, scallop side up, with piping gel. Cut 8 in. heart shape from remaining white Sugar Sheet. Punch scalloped edge with Scallop Cutting Insert, punching 2 scallops at a time. With narrow end of tip 12, punch hole in each scallop, 1/2 in. from edge. Place on top of cake.
Attach waxed paper square to flower nail with buttercream icing. Make tip12 red buttercream base and tip 104 petal red ribbon roses. Arrange on top of cake.
