Floral Swirl Cake

With stencils and spray-on food color, it's a breeze to decorate your cake with a floral theme. Use a decorating comb to add the look of pretty textured swags on the cake sides.

Cake serves about 20.

Step 1

Step 1: Bake Cake

Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in round pan. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Assemble cake on same-size cake circle.

Step 2

Step 2: Ice Cake

Using spatula, ice cake smooth in buttercream; icing sides of cake 1/2 in. thick. Raise cake up on a turntable. Using large-tooth edge of decorating comb, comb sides in an up-and-down scallop motion. Position cake on a 12 in. foil-wrapped cake circle.

Step 3

Step 3: Decorate

Position flower stencil on cake top. Spray flower areas of stencil with yellow Color Mist and leaf areas with green Color Mist. Remove stencil. Pipe tip 1M rosette bottom border; spray rosettes with additional Color Mist.
