This fairy house cake – with matching dog house – makes an adorable party centerpiece, the answer to many little girl's dreams. Shaped non-stick cast pans makes baking the cakes a breeze, assuring the perfect shape with exacting detail. The cake has a surprise inside: nonpareil sprinkles stirred into the batter before baking creates a "fairy dust" appearance.
Large cake serves 12. Small cake serves 1.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray both pans with vegetable pan spray with flour. Prepare Fairy Dust Pound Cake batter. For large cupcake, pour 3 ½ cups batter into base/bottom half of pan and 2 ½ cups batter into top part of pan. For mini cupcakes pan, pour ½ cup batter into two pan cavities. Bake large pan about 1 hour; bake mini pan 25-30 minutes. Cool completely. For both fairy houses, arrange bottom of cupcake cake upside down on cake base; attach cupcake top to cake bottom with buttercream icing.
Spatula ice large cake base with yellow buttercream icing; add yellow tip 12 lines. Spatula ice roof with light rose buttercream. Pipe tip 5 dark rose bead flower "windows" and door outline; add tip 7 dot flower center. Fill in door with tip 7 light rose buttercream; smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch; add tip 5 dark rose heart to door. Add tip 5 zigzag swags to roof; decorate swags with confetti sprinkles. Add sour cherry candy to roof top.
Outline doorway with tip #47 white buttercream; decorate rest of house with tip #47 buttercream vertical lines. Fill in doorway with black; smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch. Spatula ice roof with red buttercream icing.
Make brown buttercream dogs using tip #12 for body, tip # 7 legs, ears and snout. Add tip #3 white eyes, with tip #2 black pupils. Add tip #2 black nose and mouth.
