Bake cake in Animal Crackers pan; cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on cooling grid. Place on foil-wrapped cake board.
Tint icing. Build up ears to a point with spatula and light rose icing. Cover cake completely with tip 16 stars; build up snout area with extra icing stars.
Soften taffy in microwave a few seconds, just until pliable. Roll out taffy slightly; cut into triangle shapes for inside of ears. Soften chocolate nougat candy in microwave. Pull off pieces and shape for eyes and nostrils; flatten slightly. Roll out additional chocolate nougat candy; cut mouth shape. Position candy pieces on cake.
