A Birthday Bouquet

A burst of blossoms gives this cake its breezy attitude. Brilliantly colorful flowers and a vivid violet message create a birthday design to remember.

Step 1

Step 1: Make Drop Flowers

At least 2 days before decorating cake, make rose, yellow and violet royal icing drop flowers in a variety of sizes using tips 109, 225, 2D (44 flowers were used for this cake as shown - make additional in case of breakage); add tip 2 or tip 4 white dot flower centers. Allow to dry completely.

Step 2

Step 2: Prepare Cake

Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in round pan. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Wrap cake circle with Fanci-Foil. Arrange cake on prepared cake board.

Step 3

Step 3: Decorate

Ice cake smooth in ivory buttercream. Pipe tip 18 shell top and bottom borders. Position medium and large drop flowers on cake sides. Add tip 3 outline stems and tip 349 leaves. Print tip 2 message on cake top; position a small drop flower on each letter. Position additional drop flowers on cake top; add tip 349 leaves.
