Replacing oil in baked products with applesauce can be a bit tricky to get the right taste and texture. It is recommended that when you replace the applesauce for oil in cakes that you can do a 1 to 1 ratio (example, 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 cup oil); however, some find the cake to be a little bit chewier so you can also replace half the oil with applesauce and still add some oil (example 1/4 cup applesauce and 1/4 cup oil). It takes some experimenting to get the right product for you.
