I am allergic to corn. There are times I encounter a recipe calling for corn syrup. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative?

In baked goods, for 1 cup light corn syrup you can substitute 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar plus ΒΌ cup liquid (use the liquid called for in your recipe; if no other liquid is used, substitute water). For some recipes, it may be necessary to heat the liquid, then dissolve the sugar in the liquid; bring to room temperature before using.
