I love the show! It has gotten me more into baking and decorating. I make a semi-homemade Red Velvet Cake. My problem is, the more red food coloring I use, sometimes 2 ounces, the more the cake looks bright pink. What can I use for a true red color?

We recommend using paste colors in jars, which are more concentrated and offer a wider variety of colors to choose from than liquid food color in squeezable bottles. The red still requires a lot of icing color (about 1 oz. for an 8- or 9-inch round layer cake – one cake mix), but if you use "No-Taste" Red, you won't get the bitterness some people can taste from using this much icing color.
