Can you decorate all types of cakes with fondant icing or are there only certain types that work?

Fondant is such a great icing because it gives a perfectly smooth, satiny iced surface to your cakes! Rolled fondant is best used on any firm textured cake, pound cake or fruit cake. It is also great for cutting, molding and modeling decorations. Softer cakes like chiffon or angel food are too delitcate to cover with rolled fondant.
