How should I cut and serve a very tall layer cake, without making a mess of it in front of my guests?

Cutting a tall layer cake can be difficult! If you’re uncomfortable cutting a tall, thin slice of cake, some people prefer cutting a wider slice just halfway through the cake. If that doesn’t work for me, I’ll present the whole cake to my guests, then take the cake into the kitchen to cut and serve without as many eyes watching!
