We recommend making royal icing flowers on waxed paper. For stability, we like to tape the waxed paper to a cake board or cake circle. Once the royal icing flower or other decoration is completely dry, it should easily peel off the waxed paper. Royal icing flowers do, however, still occasionally break, so we always recommend making extras to be sure you have enough for your project. The extras will keep for a long time if stored away from light in an airtight container.
