Do I have to use a springform pan for making a cheesecake?

No, cheesecakes can be made in regular baking pans if you plan to serve them from the pan. If you want to present the cheesecake on a platter before serving, a springform is needed – the crust is on the bottom of the pan, and if you “turn the cake out,” the crust will end up on top of your cake!
