If a cookie recipe calls for canola oil can I use vegetable oil instead, and what is the difference between the two?

Vanessa - from San Marcos, TX

Canola and vegetable oil can be used interchangeably in baking and cooking. Both oils are very bland in flavor. Canola oil is actually a specific type of vegetable oil derived from the Rapeseed plant. It is low in saturated fat, high in monounsaturated fat, and contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
