When making buttercream icing, can you use butter flavored solid vegetable shortening?

Yes, butter flavored shortening can be used in place of the regular shortening, but the color will be slightly more yellow because the butter flavored shortening has a more yellow color. Adding some White-White icing color will brighten the buttercream icing.
