Hi, Nancy. How can I soften fondant?

Start by kneading the fondant – the warmth of your hands should soften hardened fondant. If it's very hard, you may need to do this in small amounts, then combine all the softened pieces. If your fondant feels dried out, knead in small amounts of vegetable shortening.
