My friends and I tried to frost our cupcakes with buttercream icing, but the icing melted too quickly. What can we do to prevent this?

First make sure your cupcakes are completely cooled after baking. If you're still finding the icing appears to be "melting" when spread onto the cupcake, it might be too thin. Stir in confectioners' sugar to stiffen the icing. Then make sure to store the cupcakes in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
