If you want to make white buttercream truly black, you have to use a lot of black icing color! Black and red are often difficult colors to achieve because they require more color to be added to the icing. Instead of starting with white buttercream, use chocolate as your base and add black icing color. Since it starts out dark, you will use a lot less icing color to get to a deep black color.
