Use gel icing color to color rolled fondant. Simply add the color to white fondant with a toothpick, then knead the fondant like you would bread dough, until the color is evenly distributed throughout the fondant. The crystals on flower petals are usually sugar. It can be added to soft fondant as is. If you’re placing it on hardened fondant, lightly brush the fondant with water, then sprinkle on the sugar.
