Decorating a square cake with fondant may seem intimidating because of the corners. Just follow these simple steps for flawless results.
First, prepare your cake by lightly covering it with buttercream icing. Then position the fondant on your cake, smoothing out the top with the Easy-Glide Smoother. Next, gently pull the corner flaps out and away from the cake. Use your hand to smooth the corners to eliminate the creases. Smooth out the sides with the Smoother.
Now simply trim off any excess fondant at bottom with a spatula or sharp knife. To give a finished look, smooth the top, the sides and the bottom edge of cake again with the Smoother.
