Butter sold in the grocery store is sold in chunks and sticks – either is acceptable for baking. Butter sold in tubs is whipped or has oils and/or water added it to make is lower in calories and/or fat. This butter should never be used for baking because your baked goods won't turn out as good as they could be (too dry, not enough rise, etc.). Each stick of butter equals ¼ pound.
