Unless you are following a specific recipe, you should not add additional baking soda to a cake mix – the resulting cake will over-rise, possibly baking over the edges of your baking pan, but also creating a poor textured cake and unfortunately, not at all fluffy! If you don’t care for the texture of cakes made with cake mix, I suggest you find a from-scratch recipe that suits your taste!
