When making a fondant-covered cake, can I use pound cake and another cake mix together to get a cake that will hold up to the weight of the fondant and taste good?

Yes, you can combine the batters made from pound cake mix and another cake mix to make your cake – we often do! Simply make up each mix separately, then gently stir together the batters. Finally, pour into your prepared baking pan.
