Why is it important to use shortening when greasing a cake pan? Why shouldn't you use butter?

Shortening is best to use because it doesn't burn easily and imparts no taste on what you are baking. While melted butter can be used, but your baked cake or other recipe will be darker (sometimes almost burnt look) and the outside crust will be harder.
